Unfortunately, theology has become the study of old dead white guys and their concepts of God. When God spoke to Joseph Smith, Jr., He answered Joseph's simple question of, "Which church shall I join?" with "Join none of them, for their creeds are an abomination."
God was saying that the creeds (belief structures of organized churchs), which had evolved over the years, had lost the key component of the Gospel. That component is love and it had been replaced by logic and the love of power.
It is important that everyone develop their own personal creed (set of beliefs) that helps them approach God. This kind of creed will help a person live a life based on love and the examples of Jesus Christ and other good people. Creeds need not be complex, just profound.
Our church's emblem has a child leading the lamb and lion in peace. (Isaiah 11:6). It indicates a child with simple love and faith leads to peace.
Thus theology is personal, simple, and profound. May you see with the eyes of a child because simple and pure ain't bad.
